In the heart of Kheda District, Gujarat, lies Vavdi Primary School, a beacon of hope for rural education. For the past five years, Hiren Hasmukbhai Sharma, a dedicated primary school teacher, has witnessed a remarkable transformation in his school, thanks to the partnership with Amitabh Shah founded NGO – Yuva Unstoppable.
The journey of partnership began five years ago when Yuva Unstoppable initiated a tablet program at Vavdi Primary School. As the collaboration evolved, it culminated in the establishment of five smart classrooms, revolutionizing the way students engage with learning materials.
However, the impact extended beyond digital technology. Yuva Unstoppable’s intervention also addressed crucial infrastructure gaps, upgrading WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities in the school. With separate dishwashing and handwashing areas, students now have access to hygienic facilities that were previously lacking.
Situated in a small village with limited access to government support, Vavdi Primary School faced numerous challenges before Yuva Unstoppable’s intervention. Teachers, although technologically savvy, lacked access to digital hardware and software essential for modern teaching methods. Consequently, the quality of education suffered, impacting student enrolment and performance.
‘Our school transformation programme at Yuva Unstoppable makes sure that schools have all the facilities necessary to make this environment conducive to learning and growth. We invest in infrastructure, technology, training and behaviour change to ensure a holistic development programme in the school’, says Amitabh Shah, Founder Yuva Unstoppable.
A visit by the Yuva Unstoppable team opened the school’s eyes to the transformative potential of smart classrooms. Children, many of whom had never experienced such technology, became more engaged and curious learners. The result? A significant increase in enrolment, with parents eager to send their children to a school equipped for success.
The success story of Vavdi Primary School is evident in its academic performance. With the installation of smart classrooms, students’ learning outcomes have improved, setting them on a path to a brighter future. ‘Remarkably, 25 students chose to transfer from a nearby private school to Vavdi Primary School, a testament to the impact of Yuva Unstoppable’s interventions’, states Sharmaji.
For Hiren Hasmukbhai Sharma, teaching is more than just a profession; it’s a calling. With fifteen years of teaching experience, he embodies dedication and resilience. Hailing from a small village himself, Sharma’s motivation lies in imparting valuable life lessons to his students and community, nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Recognizing Sharma’s dedication, he received an award from the NCRT (National Council of Educational Research and Training), highlighting his commitment to excellence. Moreover, the installation of smart classrooms not only benefited students but also enhanced teachers’ performance, with Yuva Unstoppable providing essential training for adapting to new learning methods.
