Mumbai, 5th August: On the occasion of India’s 74th Independence Day, Desh Apnayen Sahayog Foundation, which has been providing opportunities and resources to over 900 schools to help create ACTIZENS (alert, informed and active citizens) since over five years, has announced a new contest- ‘My Country, My Pride’.

Commenting on this, Vallabh Bhanshali, Founder and Chief Mentor of Desh Apnayen (and the Enam Group), said, “The purpose of this online contest is to make the current generation well-informed and also instil in them the feeling of pride and ownership towards their nation. This contest will also help us understand what the aspirations of the young are about the country and their inclination for its betterment. Hence, we invite principals and teachers to register for the contest and be a part of the ACTIZEN movement, aimed at shaping better and responsible citizens for a brighter tomorrow.”

As a part of the contest, a team of students from the shortlisted schools will be making presentations covering:

  • A comparison of India with one country and one parameter of the group’s choice
  • Ideas on how India could fare much better on the selected parameter
  • How the students can achieve this as ACTIZENS

The Zonal Rounds to select the finalists will be held online on 10th and 11th August. The students will be evaluated on the basis of the quality of content, the ideas presented and presentation skills. The Grand Finale of the contest will be held digitally, on 13th August 2020 at 2 pm, which will be live streamed on Desh Apnayen’s YouTube channel. Padma Shri awardee Mr. Mohandas Pai will be the Chief Guest and Judge for the event.

Schools that would like to take part in the contest can nominate students at www.bit.ly/DeshApnayenContest and write to info@deshapnayen.org or 8898890202 for any queries.
