Dry Cleaners’ & Launderers Association of India (DLAI) conducted its First Annual General Meeting & Best Practice Awards 2020 for Sustainable Practices on February 16 at the Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport, Mumbai.
Marking the first year of the formation of DLAI, the well-attended convention addressed Smart & efficient laundry technology, Asian Trends & successful business in Commercial Laundry and Retail Laundry and panel discussions on How to overcome challenges for small & medium dry cleaning/laundry companies in a competitive, fast-changing environment besides others.
The Awards were given away at a gala evening programme to top players in the industry. The nominations for the Indian Best Practices Awards – Retail Textile Cleaning were Cleanovo, Laundrokart, Gemfab 5asec, Laundromania, LaundroMINT, The Laundry House, Mercury Dry Cleaners, Synergy Express and We Wash Laundromats. The nominations for Indian Best Practices Awards-Industrial Textile Services were: KLEANWISE, Quick Clean and Intensive Clothes Care Unit.

The Indian Best Practices Awards, a national pre-selection chapter on The Road to Frankfurt Germany, where GBPA2020 Final will take place (June 20, 2020, at Texcare International).
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Bhatia, President and one of the 23 founder members of DLAI, said, “DLAI was formed in 2018 and within a span of one year, it has more than 1,000 members. This also includes the smaller associations all over India that operate in a traditional and unorganized way in fragmented sections. We have been successful in including a few and would like to reach out to the others too.
Right from those who want to source equipment or modern technology to upgrade themselves, to those in the new generation who want to enter the laundry business, DLAI is in the process of creating a cell for providing the required training and facilities.
Another core area is in addressing the pressing disparity in the GST and we are requesting the Government to remove it completely. Our mission is to foster and encourage professionalism and ongoing development within the Professional Textile Care industry in India.”
