Cricket Society, India’s cricketers eager to win more laurels in the Deaf International Cricket 2019 at Kroonstad, South Africa

· Tournament to be played from 24 November to 04 December 2019
· DCS India’s team invited to South Africa in recognition of excellent performances

Mumbai, 16 October 2019: The Deaf Cricket Society, India’s team will be participating in the Deaf International Cricket Series 2019 at Kroonstad, South Africa, on the invitation of Deaf Cricket South Africa. Hosted by Deaf Cricket South Africa, the ODI (One-day International) tournament will be played from 24 November to 04 December 2019. A registered body under the Society Registration Act, the DCS is an affiliated member of the Deaf International Cricket Council (Deaf ICC).

The invitation from South Africa was in recognition of the Indian Deaf Cricket team’s stellar performances in limited-overs cricket – T20 as well as ODIs. In the 2018 Deaf T20 World Cup, for instance, hosts India emerged the runners-up, with Sri Lanka winning the tournament.

An auditory-challenged player himself, Sumit Jain, Secretary – Deaf Cricket Society, India, asserted: “The caliber of India’s Deaf Cricket team members has been proven via their good performances in recent tournaments. Therefore, the invitation to play in South Africa’s ODI tournament marks a proud moment for the country and its physically-challenged sports members, offering them another opportunity to prove their sporting credentials. Moreover, such sports enable the players to enjoy moments of personal and professional glory every time they participate in international tournaments.”

Reena Jain Malhotra, Patron – Deaf Cricket Society, India, said: “DCS is managed by differently-abled members who are committed to proving they are a reflection of the immense capabilities existing within each of us. Young auditory-challenged cricketers in the organization are striving to promote and upgrade cricket as a professional sport among themselves. Nonetheless, we believe a greater degree of support from official cricket bodies would help these players put in better performances.”
Rory Hickson, Chairman – Deaf Cricket South Africa, commented: “We believe disability sports are one of the best ways to overcome such challenges by organizing national and international tournaments where the top teams test their mettle. Considering the Indian Deaf Cricket team’s stellar performances, inviting them to South Africa will ensure highly-rated teams lock horns for the coveted trophy.”

The DCS regularly organizes annual cricket championships within India and abroad. The championship aims to nurture hidden talent and encourage auditory-challenged cricketers by offering them periodic opportunities to participate at the international level. But robust support from corporate sponsors and official bodies could help auditory-challenged players bring great glory for the country.

Having trained diligently, India’s Deaf Cricket team has pledged to put their best foot forward in playing highly-competitive cricket and striving hard to bring the Deaf International Cricket Series 2019 trophy back home from South Africa.

Driving the business of smart systems, Taiwan Excellence is showcasing cutting-edge technologies, real-world solutions and proven strategies that are needed to build more livable, workable and sustainable cities. After a stupendous success in Bengaluru in 2017 and 2018, the Smart Asia – Expo & Summit, organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), is being held in Mumbai for the first time this year. The event, being held between October 17 and 19, will focus on Smart City Solutions, Smart Technology Applications, City Development Products and Services. The organization is displaying various products and brands in smart ICT, smart healthcare, IoT solutions, smart gaming gadgets and smart-life devices industries. With some unique offerings, the products cover the entire spectrum of smart and digital automation – from simple sensors to intelligent solutions, from what is feasible today to the vision of a fully digitalized industrial world. The focus remains on practical solutions for smart living. Renowned Taiwanese brands like ADATA, Advantech,AIFA,AVer,Avision,Bintronic, Buder, CyberPower,Edimax, FECA, GIGABYTE,Opro 9, PLANET,Plustek, QNAP, SENOR,Thermaltake, Transcend,TSC, U.CR+and WiseChip are showcasing their state-of-the-art products at the event. Another major participating brand is Delta Electronics, a well- known Taiwanese brand that offers solutions in industrial automation, building automation, datacentre, telecom, renewable energy, display and monitoring and EV charging. Taiwan Excellence pavilion has many crowd pulling products. The UTX -3117 is a plug & play IoT gateway to simplify deployment with multi-connectivity and IoT software integration which is ideal for smart city, smart retail, smart energy, and industry 4.0 solutions. The Opro9 smart Air Purifier is another highlight. The purifier takes a non-traditional approach to air cleaning, with a water-based system that is designed to “wash” the air by absorbing impurities and releasing negative ions. Also, on display is the Buder Under Sink Hot Water Dispenser that is environment friendly and comes with an energy efficient design. Taiwan Excellence has already been undertaking a range of initiatives in India to share its expertise when it comes to smart solutions by contributing to various projects of the Indian government including Smart Cities mission, Make in India, Skills India and Digital India. India has been benefitting to a great extent from these contributions especially at a time when according to estimates, by the year 2050, the population in Indian cities will touch 60% of total population. To accommodate this extensive urbanization, India needs to find smarter ways to manage complexities, reduce expenses, increase efficiency, and improve the quality of urban life. Thisyear, Taiwan Excellence participated in two major events in India including the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and Taiwan Expo. Speaking about the Expo and Taiwan Excellence’s consecutive successful participation in it, Alex Pen, Director of Taipei World Trade Center Liaison office Mumbai said, “Taiwan Excellence has been redefining what it means for a city to be “smart” with our innovations and solutions. The feedback has been very encouraging again this year. We see a lot of growth opportunities and this Expo is offering a chance to explore collaboration with different industry players. Taiwanese companies have very high R&D capabilities and good quality control and excellent innovation. Smart Asia is a great opportunity to engage with many professionals and expose our innovative solutions across various industries.” Platforms like Smart Asia are also likely to augment the trade and bilateral relations between India and Taiwan. The current trade volume between India and Taiwan is to the tune of $7 billion. In the last 10 years, the cumulative investment by companies from Taiwan in India was $700 million. Taiwan is looking forward to participate in more platforms to enhance the ties between the two countries.
