Commenting on the Union Budget 2019, Mr. Balram Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet Ltd. said, “The Economic Survey had rightly acknowledged Livestock and Fisheries sectors’ role in driving growth in Indian agriculture. So the introduction of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) to address the infrastructure gap in the fisheries sector is a welcome move. This scheme will help address critical gaps in the value chain, including infrastructure, traceability, productivity, post-harvest management and quality control. Another positive was the push on rural roads which will help improve market connectivity. We would urge the government to provide greater support in the edible oil sector to encourage self-sufficiency and sustainable development.”
